However when you’ve got your fur baby along, you need more than just great food – you need a pet friendly establishment to enjoy a leisurely meal with your loved ones (both the two-legged and four-legged). Luckily, New York City is incredibly dog friendly and there are so many wonderful cafes, restaurants and bars that open their doors to furry friends. Barking Dog

Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, Barking Dog is a dog friendly restaurant on the Upper East Side. The whole restaurant and menu is canine-themed and absolutely adorable. Dogs and humans are welcomed on the outside patio complete with a doggy watering fountain for the furry one.

Vesleka

Established in 1954, Vesleka is a chic little spot in the heart of the East Village that serves up traditional Ukranian food. No matter if you’re looking for a little brunch action with your friends or a filling evening meal, Vesleka is your answer. Their outdoor wraparound sidewalk seating is the perfect spot to bring your furry friend to enjoy an afternoon bite, with plenty of shade for them to hang. They’ve even been known to give out homemade dog bones, so make sure you ask your waiter!

Black Door

The Black Door is a neighborhood bar and event space that is pet friendly. While they don’t have any outdoor space, pets are welcome inside to hang while their owners sip on hand-crafted cocktails and beverages. The staff is friendly, pet-loving, and will spoil your fur baby with love and affection.

Bluestone Lane

Multiple locations in the Financial District, Brooklyn, East Village, West Village, Greenwich, Flatiron District, Manhattan West, Hudson Yard, Garment District, Time Square, Bryant Park, Midtown, Upper West Side

Bluestone Lane is an Australian-inspired coffee shop and café that has multiple locations throughout the city. It’s a great healthy spot for a lite bite and delicious coffee. Their locations are dog friendly so you can bring your doggy with you to order a take-away treat and enjoy it at their outdoor café tables complete with water bowls! Or take your coffee on the road and head to a local dog park and let your doggy explore and meet new friends.

Rosie’s

Humans can enjoy an elevated take on traditional Mexican dishes and tantalizing margaritas at this hip bustling East Village restaurant. Rosie’s is a colorful, vibrant restaurant and provides the perfect place to grab an appetizer and cocktail mid-day or a little dinner with friends. Request a table outside and your pup will also be in heaven in the shady overhang of the large outdoor patio.

Lucydog

Yup, this is a dog-lovers sanctuary. Luckydog is a funky little hipster bar for dogs, humans and beer. Located in Brooklyn this hole-in-the-wall bar has plenty of pet-friendly indoor and outdoor seating as well as a backyard area for dogs to run and play while their humans enjoy a glass of wine or ice cold beer. Not a bad way to spend a hot New York City summer day.
