New York City is definitely the biggest and arguably the most exciting city in the United States. It’s not just human visitors that will get a kick out of the sights and sounds of the big city. Check out the top NYC pet-friendly activities that you can do with your pup!
Pet-Friendly Activities in Manhattan
Dine at The Wilson NYC
The Wilson is a trendy restaurant in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan that caters to two and four-legged customers.
Their dog menu is available on the restaurant’s outdoor seating areas on the patio and terrace. There are five tasty options for your pet to munch on, including ribeye steak, salmon, chicken, or apples and carrots.
Madison Square Park
This park must be on everyone’s list of top NYC pet-friendly activities. Only ten minutes away from the Wilson is the popular Madison Square Park and its award-winning dog run!
Madison Square Park is located directly in front of the famous Flatiron Building. The Park is popular with dog walkers and local office employees out on their lunch breaks.
You can bring your dog to the seven-acre dog run no matter their size. The gravel-covered area is divided into sections. Drinking water and clean-up bags are available, and the fenced-in space is off-leash!
Walk across Manhattan Bridge
Most visitors to New York City will opt for a walk across Brooklyn Bridge, and we don’t blame them! However, for the best views of the city skyline and the storied Brooklyn Bridge, we recommend taking your dog for a walk across the Manhattan Bridge instead.
Enter the pedestrian bridge on the west side of Manhattan Bridge near the intersection of Canal Street and Bowery (like the famous song lyrics) for fantastic views of the city. Once you cross the bridge, you will end up in Brooklyn’s DUMBO neighborhood and there’s plenty to do there as well.
Pet-Friendly Activities in Brooklyn
Dine at Cebu in Bay Ridge
This might be a controversial claim for New Yorkers to read, but the neighborhood of Bay Ridge in South Brooklyn has the highest concentration of delicious dining options in the entire borough.
Take your dog to brunch on the patio of Cebu Bar & Bistro, located on 3rd Avenue and 88th Street. The restaurant has delectable dishes on its brunch menu such as lamb burgers and lemon ricotta pancakes. After your meal, you can take the R train to the city or take a walk along the Shore Road Boulevard, which will take you past the Verrazzano Bridge all the way to Coney Island.
Walk Your Dog at Prospect Park Dog Field
Prospect Park is a massive oasis in the middle of Brooklyn with several areas open to your furry friends to run wild. The park has off-leash hours in the Long Meadow, Nethermead, Peninsula Meadow fields plus Dog Beach where they can take a dip! Off-leash hours are from 5 am to 9 am and 9 pm to 1 am daily.
You can get to the special swimming hole just for dogs along a walking path from the entrance at Prospect Park West and 9th Street.
